APS Relocation Planner
Moving for an Australian Public Service posting? This planner takes your APS level, agency cluster, move direction and home size, and generates a personalised relocation brief covering the relevant policy framework, the right service tier, and practical next steps for booking a removalist.
Note: Relocation entitlements vary by agency and Enterprise Agreement. The brief below explains the general APSC framework and common provisions. Always verify your specific entitlement with your agency's HR team before committing to a removalist.

The APSC relocation framework, briefly
Directed relocations
When the APS directs an employee to relocate, the Public Service Act and the relevant agency Enterprise Agreement provide the basis for removal assistance. The entitlement typically covers reasonable removal and storage costs, but the exact scope varies by agency. Check your EA and confirm with HR before committing to a removalist.
Comcare and OH&S
Comcare is the workers' compensation insurer for most Commonwealth employees. It is separate from removal assistance. Comcare has responsibilities around workplace health and safety for relocations, including manual handling during the move itself. A professional removalist carries its own insurance; your Comcare cover applies to work-related injury, not damage to goods.
DHA and Defence moves
Defence Housing Australia manages housing assistance for ADF members and some Defence APS staff. A DHA-assisted move follows specific quoting and invoicing requirements. We can quote in the DHA-compatible format. Confirm your housing assistance entitlement with your unit's admin or the DHA portal before booking a removalist.
Claiming reimbursement
Most agencies require an itemised tax invoice from the removalist for a reimbursement claim. We provide this as a matter of course. Some agencies have a preferred supplier panel; if your agency is on a procurement arrangement with a specific provider, check this before accepting a quote from us.
